Garcia Michaels Spaulding

Garcia Michaels is general partner, director, and head of operations at Rothschild Enterprise. Garcia received a BA in Economics from Howard University, where he graduated at the top of his class. Garcia also earned a law degree and a Ph.D. in Finance from UNC Kenan Flagler Business School. Garcia leverages over 25 years of experience and over $100 million in transactions closed to benefit Rothschild and its clients. 

Garcia spent the first ten years of his career as vice president of commercial real estate and special assets at Mechanics & Farmer Bank and CCB Bank Durham, North Carolina. After his time at CCB, Garcia spent ten years with Bear Stearns as vice president of its investment banking and real estate operations. In the early 1990s, Garcia formed a partnership with Joseph Rothschild and developed over 75 single-family subdivisions throughout the Carolinas. Later, in the late 2000's Garcia, Joseph and Garcia’s younger brother Gary Shelton joined forces with two New York City hedge fund operators and formed LaSalle Rothschild Investment Group.

Joseph Rothschild is the general partner of the umbrella limited partnership and senior underwriter for AMRO Paribas Private Equity Group commercial real estate and technology engagements.

  

Joseph received a BS in Civil Engineering (with honors) and earned an MBA in 1973. He has over 30 years of experience in the industry, starting with M&A, corporate finance, financial advisory, and commercial real estate, facilitating $100 million in transactions. Over the years, Joseph has earned several awards for his outstanding leadership ability along with several prestigious awards and recognitions. After starting his banking career in 1980, he later led the investment banking operation for real estate with Lehman Brothers until the mid-1980's, when he became a real estate developer.

Gary Williams is a partner with LaSalle Rothschild Capital Solutions commercial real estate, investment banking, debt strategies, and loan origination group. He oversees the Midwest and Southeast origination operations for funding. Before joining Rothschild, Gary was head of commercial loan originations and a member of the investment/loan committee for BB&T Bank, Atlanta, GA. Prior to that time, he was head of originations for Deutsche Bank’s US Commercial Real Estate Group, focusing on high-yield financing and distressed debt acquisitions.   

Gary received a BA in the early 1990s and is working on two professional designations: MAI at the Appraisal Institute and CCIM Certified Commercial Investment Member.

Shelton is the Managing Partner with Rothchild Capital Solution, Chief Investment Strategist with Rothchild Capital Markets and Senior Underwriter for the AMRO financial enterprise.  Shelton started his banking career at NCNB Bank Charlotte North Carolina in the early 90's. While at NCNB Shelton was VP of operation automotive dealer services. From their Shelton headed the capital markets loan origination group a number of large financial institutions in North Carolina. Shelton holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and a minor in finance law. Shelton also has special studies from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business in Leadership and finance from The Oxford Chicago Valuation program. Shelton is currently working on two professional designation CCIM and MAI from the CCIM Institute and the MAI Appraisal Institute in Chicago Illinois.  

  

Mr. Shelton and Mr. Williams has created two viable finance products for commercial real estate practitioners and entrepreneurs  seeking capital market financing. Both products mitigate investor out of pocket risk with the insurance of funding and bankable returns on investor capital.

Williams started his entrepreneurial career at the age of 13 working for his uncle Dempsey on the South-side of Chicago. Following in his footsteps Williams earned a degree in economics with an advanced degree in finance. Williams is a senior level executive with over 25 years in commercial finance with  some the US largest financial institutions.   

 Dempsey Jerome Travis was born on February 25, 1920, in Chicago, Illinois. Travis attended Roosevelt University, where he received his bachelor’s degree in 1949. That same year, he founded Travis Realty Corporation and became its president. Travis also served as president of Sivart Mortgage Company. At the helm of these two companies, Travis was able to establish himself firmly as a real estate developer in Chicago throughout the latter half of the twentieth century. In 1960, Travis founded United Mortgage Bankers of America, as well as the Dempsey Travis Securities and Investment Corporation, which he served as president until 1974.

 Charles Clinton Spaulding, (born in 1874, Columbus county, N.C.) an American business leader who built North Carolina Mutual Life Insurance Company into the nation’s largest black-owned business of the 20th century  time of his death in 1952 when it was worth about $40 million. Today in the year 2020 NC Mutual Insurance total assets tops $162 million with total equity of $14.3 billion dollars.


 Spaulding wielded wide influence in the community and emerged as the “undisputed leader during his time. He managed several Durham financial institutions which includes Mechanic & Farmers Bank located in Durham North Carolina. He regularly appeared before the North Carolina legislature on behalf of North Carolina College (today’s North Carolina Central University) and served on the boards of trustees of several black colleges, including Howard University from 1936 until his death in 1952.
